Netflix & Thrill: 2025 Horror Movies You Can’t Miss

Updated: Sep 26

Hey girlfriend! Fall is officially here— which means bring on the warm drinks, cozy knit sweaters, and back-to-back movie marathons. And with Halloween creeping up on us, what better way to set the mood than with a few good scares? Whether you’re hitting the theaters with friends, planning a spooky date night, or curling up solo on the couch with popcorn, I’ve got you covered with some of the most notable 2025 horror films.

Still in Theaters

Him

Cameron Cade (Tyriq Withers) is projected to be football’s next legendary quarterback, following in the footsteps of his childhood hero Isaiah White (Marlo Wayans). But when Cameron gets the chance to train with his idol, he finds out the game he loves requires more than just heart—it wants your soul. Definitely not your typical sports movie.

Weapons

If you’re looking for great storytelling with a terrific plot twist, this is your film. A small-town is left distraught when a group of kids disappear in the middle of the night and signs point to their teacher, Miss Justine (Julia Garner). We are taken through a chilling unfolding while we attempt to uncover how, why, and if she did it.

The Conjuring: Last Rite

Our favorite demon-fighting duo Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are supposed to be retired, but evil clearly didn’t get the memo. They’re lured back into the fight by a demonic force that’s been waiting dormant for decades, and they realize this battle isn’t about saving others—it’s about saving themselves. If you’ve been riding with the Conjuring franchise, this one’s a must.

The Long Walk

Ray (Cooper Hoffman) and Peter (David Jonsson) are two of 50 young men who volunteer to participate in a nation wide walking competition in hopes of winning a grand prize of their choosing. When the competition turns deadly, they see that the only thing stronger than one's body is the bond they make along the journey.

Woman in the Yard

Heartbreaking and horrifying. After losing her husband in a car accident, Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler) is left raising her two kids on an isolated farm. When a mysterious figure shows up in the yard, Ramona must decide whether to sacrifice or fight for her family. This one’s eerie in all the right ways.

28 Years Later

Zombie lovers, here’s your fix. Decades after the outbreak, a safe community has survived on a remote peninsula. But when a restless teen (Edvin Ryding) ventures into the mainland, he learns the thin line between man and mutation. It’s the perfect mix of dystopian survival and gut-clenching horror.

Sinners

Michael B. Jordan pulling double duty as both Smoke and Stack? Yes, please. The two brothers head back south to open a juke joint; and after a day of planning and promoting their grand opening, their musical night gets hijacked by guests from the other side who’ve come to steal the show… and a few souls.

Together

Tim (Dave Franco) and Mille (Alison Brie) are a couple whose relationship is strained by their codependent tendencies. One supernatural cave and a charming cult leader later lead these two to reconsider their definition of healthy boundaries. Creepy, quirky, and a little uncomfortably relatable.

Bring Her Back

When siblings Piper (Sora Wong) and Andy (Billy Barratt) are unexpectedly orphaned, they are placed under the care of Laura (Sara Hawkins). Their new mother seems too-cool-to-care on the surface, but we soon uncover her unhealthy obsession with occult practices that could reconnect her with her deceased daughter. Dark and chilling.

Locked

Eddie Barrish (Bill Skarsgård) is a part time father and full time petty thief. When he stumbles upon an unlocked, high end SUV, one can only assume he’s hit the jackpot. But his lucky day takes a hellish turn when he learns the vehicle is remote controlled by a vengeful owner William (Anthony Hopkins), who takes him on a wild ride. This one will have you at the edge of your seat.

Final Destination: Bloodlines

The long-awaited return of the Final Destination franchise is finally here, and this time death’s game gets personal. Bloodlines follows one family’s desperate attempt to break free from fate’s deadly grip and outsmart its hit list. But if there’s one thing this series has taught us, it’s that death doesn’t like to be cheated.

Scream scene of woman talking on phone

So whether you’re braving the theaters or staying cozy on the couch, this lineup has something to make your skin crawl. Just don’t forget the snacks… and maybe a nightlight.
