April Edit: What We’re Loving & Leaving Behind

Updated: 4 days ago

Hey girlfriend! As the seasons shift and spring fully settles in, April feels like the month where everything starts to bloom—plans, routines, and even our perspectives. It’s the perfect time to refresh what we’re leaning into and let go of what’s no longer serving us. Whether it’s in your skincare, mindset, or weekend plans, these in’s and out’s are all about finding more joy, ease, and intention in the little things.

In

Sunscreen Tints

Fun in the sun is the theme as the weather warms up, but protecting your skin is still a must. A good skin tint with SPF can seamlessly fit into your routine—combining coverage and sun protection in one easy step. My current favorite? Joisen. Light, breathable, and perfect for everyday wear.

Book Clubs

Romance novels have been on the rise, and it’s no surprise—they’re having a moment. Whether you’re into steamy reads or slow-burn stories, there’s a book club out there for you. Local communities and online spaces are full of recommendations to keep your heart and mind full.

Self-Regulation

With warmer days come more plans and outings. While it’s exciting to emerge from winter hibernation, don’t forget to make time for yourself. It’s easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of work and activities. Remember to pace yourself—summer will be here before you know it.

Dry Brushing

Sun’s out, skin’s out! I’m a loyal fan of my African net for the shower, but nothing makes my skin feel as refreshed and smooth as dry brushing. A handheld or long-handle brush works wonders. Use it a few times a week before your shower and your skin will thank you.

Picnic with fruit and book.

Out

Forced Workouts

With summer approaching, it’s easy to feel pressure to get “snatched” for the season. But pushing through workouts you don’t enjoy can lead to burnout. Moving your body shouldn’t feel like punishment—swap in a walk, mobility work, or a yoga flow to reconnect with joy and motivation.

Toxic Deodorants

This one’s a no-brainer. I’ve shared my love for Wild on the blog before, and I’m thrilled that one of my faves, Nécessaire, now offers a deodorant too. There are so many great options that keep you fresh without the harmful ingredients. Stay clean and safe this summer.

The “I’m Behind” Mentality

No matter your age, it’s easy to feel like you should be further along. But that pressure usually stems from comparison, which—as we know—is the thief of joy. This year, we’re embracing where we are, setting meaningful goals, and fully enjoying our unique journeys.

Emotional Spending

This one hit home for me. I’ve fallen into the trap of doomscrolling and spontaneous SHEIN checkouts. The real issue is the cycle of impulse buys and constant returns. Taking a break from shopping helped me save money and make more intentional choices. Keeping a running list of "wants" vs. "needs" has been a game-changer.

So here’s to stepping into April with a bit more clarity and a lot more compassion—for ourselves and our growth. Trends may come and go, but honoring what feels good and aligns with where you are right now is always in. Cheers to warm days, soft resets, and becoming more of who we’re meant to be.
